Blogging: Keeping Motivated

blogging keeping motivated
Hi Lovelies
I can't actually believe its been two years since I started blogging! I can't say its always been a plain sailing journey with my blog but its been a fun one and I have loved every minute of doing my blog. Anyways onto this post, sometimes I struggled keeping myself motivated to actually get a blog post in mind or getting myself to write blog posts or even want to take blog photos. In this post I have wrote a few tips to help combat it and help keep motivation.

My blogging tips
  1. Numbers aren't always everything: I know it can be quite daunting to see blogger with literally thousands of followers but that doesn't mean any else blog isn't as good. I don't have too many views on every blog post it ranges between 150-300 usually but it took time to even get it that high, it was a lot lower when I first started back in 2014 my page views were between 40-90, so its progress from then till now and I am happy.
  2. Its ok to have time off: I have took time off before because I literally couldn't write so it was pointless writing anything if I wasn't in the right mood to do so. I never lost any readers when I came back either. Having a break made my blogging mind feel better and my blog benefited from a break. During my time off I didn't go on social media and I never checked on my blog either.
  3. Carry a notebook and pen: Blog post ideas can come randomly so its best to have a pen and paper at the ready to remember what to write about and also what to blog about in the future. I thought about a blog post late at night once and I was too tired to write a blog post so I wrote down in my notebook the blog post idea and I continued it the next day.
  4. Blog post ideas are literally everywhere: They really are, they could be on the tv or when you take the dog out for a morning walk, they happen in any scenario. Sometimes when I am out I see nice flowers and I like to take photos of them.
  5. Work out a blog schedule: I know this may not be always possible but I do this from time to time and it makes a difference to my blog. I try to blog 3-4 times a week so its regular and also share lots on my social media, I usually do this on the evenings.
  6. Days with no new blog post, re-share older posts: This is the perfected way to keep the traffic on your blog, its helpful to it all on hoot suite as its timed for when you want it to be posted on social media like twitter.
  7. Bulk take photos: I can't take blog photos everyday because the weather isn't nice all the time and I literally have no time to do that so I usually bulk take lots of photos in a day and spread the blog posts out during the week or month.
  8. Enjoy!: for me thats the main thing, post about things you like and it makes it so much easier .

Astral Cream Review

original astral cream review
Astral cream has been around for longer then I can remember and has been a favourite skincare product of my mums and nana for years, so I thought the time came for me to try this cream for myself to see what all the fuss was about. I ended up treating buying this half price in super drug last month so I could test it properly to see if it worked for me.

Astral is an all intense moisturiser to take care of the skin that they haven't needed to change the formula since they first brought the product out which is over 50 years ago. This cream is also mulit-use so can be used on the hands, skin and the face.

I bought the largest tub available which is the 500ml because I like to save the pennies and of course it would last me a lot longer too because me and my husband both use skincare products together, its like a mini pamper session every morning and last thing at night.
Astral Cream Review
First things first this cream is so thick and to quite honest it may look a little daunting but once you get it on your skin  its actually quite soothing and quite nice and relaxing to apply to the skin. I used a walnut sized amount on my skin and neck, a dollop on my hands and body. The cream is very soft and silky and rubs into my skin easily without any mess and didn't leave my skin feeling greasy afterwards. The scent of the cream is a little bit over the top but that hasn't put me off the cream at all because it works well on my skin. I have sensitive skin and this cream didn't make my skin sore it was just soothing.

Facts about Astral
  • Cruelty free
  • comes in 3 different sizes: 50ml, 100ml and 500ml
  • Halal
  • Has aloe vera ideal for sensitive skin
  • Its an all over cream so can be used anywhere like face, feet and elbows
  • Affordable with prices starting at a bargain price of £1.29!!
  • Information on where to buy on their website here

Have you tried Astral Face and body moisturiser before?

Summer Makeup Favourites

summer makeup favourites
Hi Lovelies
I really love summer BUT wearing makeup can be a bit of a challenge, so my challenge the start of the month was to find makeup that would last during hot days and thankfully after trying a few products I finally came up with with these lovely products and I just have to they all faired really well and stayed on my face all day even on the hottest day.

For Summer I like to wear makeup that is light to wear and also long lasting. I usually go for a natural look with a bright or nude lipstick.

Beauty Favourites
Urban Decay Naked Foundation  Cruelty Free // Vegan
This foundation is super light almost weightless and is very breathable so its perfect for the summer months. I wear these foundation over a moisturiser and finish it with the urban decay all nighter to keep it in place all day.  The good thing is that this foundation is its build able so you can have a

Urban Decay Naked Concealer Cruelty Free
This concealer goes very well with the urban decay naked foundation, I apply it to my under eyes and brows. This lasts just as much as the foundation and isn't drying. Its a win-win product for me.

Soap and Glory Supercat Eyeliner Cruelty Free /// Vegan
Sometimes when I apply eyeliner in hot weather it can melt during the day but with this eyeliner this hasn't been that problem. I love how easy it is to apply the liner and how neatly it applies too.

Barry M Lash Vegas Mascara Cruelty Free /// Vegan
For mascaras in summer I like them to make my lashes look natural with a little bit of a curl as I find a lot of others a bit too heavier for the summer months

I just love the brand Illamasqua and one of my most favourite products from the brand has to be the satin lipstick, they are very smooth to apply and they come in nude to bright pinks and reds. They are soft so keep my lips feeling moisturised. My favourite at the moment is Cherub which is a lovely warm coral shade.

Urban Decay Beached Bronzer Cruelty Free
Bronzer is one of my favourite makeup products in the summer as it can be used on the face or the body. I love applying this on my cheek bones to define them to give them a contoured look and it works very well.

The Balm Mary Lou Highlighter Cruelty Free /// Vegan
I can honestly say ever since I got this highlighter I have worn it most days because I just love it so much! it highlights the cheekbones to perfection; I mean seriously you notice such a difference wearing this highlighter. I use this for my cheeks, brows, cupids bow and to mix with other eyeshadows.

Lush R&B Review

lush r&b hair moisturiser review
When it comes to haircare I like to get products that help keep my hair moisturised because to be honest with you all my hair can get very dry, especially after all the times I have dyed it; with that being said I am growing out my hair and using lots of products to keep my hair in tip top condition. Thats where this products comes into play.

Lush is a very trusted brand for me and I have loved most of their products so far; I've always wanted to try R&B hair moisturiser so finally took the plunge to buy it for me and my husband to try.
lush r and b review
R and B Hair Moisturiser 100g £11.95
Cruelty Free
Vegan
Rich with blends of oils and butters

Key Ingredients
Oat Milk - It may taste lovely but its also great at soothing and calming the scalp
Avocado Butter - Avocados may taste lovely on toast with tomatoes but its also fab at nourishing hydrating
Orange flower absolute - For a nice citrus smell
Extra virgin coconut oil - is they anything coconut cant do?

The design is typical lush and looks very similar to the facial mask pots and also has the same bring 5 lush posts or tubes back to get another mask free. The product itself smells gorgeous and you can really smell the blend of coconut and orange. The texture is very similar to a hair similar and applies like a hair oil too, all you have to do is get about a walnuts size amount and put it in your palms, rub between your hands and rub into the hair throughly. Once the product was in my hair it left my hair more glossy and smelling of delicate oranges.

My Thoughts
I did really like this product, I applied this just before I put my hijab on and my hair felt lovely and softer later on in the day once I removed my hijab. The tub is a decent 100ml and you only need a small amount of product so I would say its good value for money.

My Rating
10/10 I don't usually go throwing out these scores but this product is worth every penny and helps me to look after my hair. The smell of the product is just divine and I know in future I will be buying it again

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation Review

urban decay naked skin foundation review
Hi Lovelies
When it comes to makeup I just love to have a variety of different products from hughstreet products to premium products and the variations could be a £2 eyeliner to a £15 for a lipstick; but when it comes to a foundation I prefer a premium product for a few different reason, first reason being I think they last longer, secondly I have sensitive skin and I haven't had a reaction with an premium foundation yet and lastly is coverage; with a premium product its easier to get a fuller coverage, which ideal for me as I have dark circles and rosacea.

Urban Decay is a makeup brand that doesn't need much of an introduction, this brand was founded nearly 20 years ago and it can be found online and in many Debenhams stores. This brand is an alternative makeup company which sells a variety of different products such as classic red lipsticks to bright purples. Not only do they sell lipsticks they offer lots of other products such as foundation, eyeshadows and so much more. My wish list of urban decay products keeps on growing because they always seem to be releasing amazing products at the moment.

urban decay naked skin foundation review
urban decay naked skin foundation swatch
Cruelty Free *

Vegan
Weightless liquid foundation
A demi matte finish
18 foundation shades to choose from

The packaging looks very nice and it came in a very nicely presented gold box with lots of info on written on it. The foundation bottle itself looks very good too and it looks like a premium product, it would would look nice displayed in clear makeup drawers. The pump of this foundation is decent and takes about 3-4 pumps to get an even coverage, the actual foundation is very thin like so I can see were they get the weightless name from, even though its very thin its very easy to work with and it covers my rosacea easily too. It doesn't have an overpowering smell or anything like that but a delicate smell instead *thankfully!; I am not a fan of overpowering scents in foundation*

I wore this foundation all day with my holy grail product Urban Decay all night makeup setting spray and it did manage to stay on all day even during the hottest days, which I find brilliant because usually at this time of the year my foundations don't last too long.

My Thoughts
I love the fact this foundation is build able so I can have control on how much I want to wear and with that being said its a brilliant foundation during the summer because of how weightless it actually  is. I had no reactions using this product and I have been using it since May. With it being weightless its very breathable for my skin and its comfortable to wear all day. I wear a shade 2.0 and it matches my complexion perfectly. I really like the finish of this product which is a mostly dewy finish which I love.

Rating
10/10 I can't say anything bad about this product because I just love it so much! its weightless and doesn't feel heavy on the skin and last all day. Its very worth the £27 price tab, I can't wait to try more urban decay products.

Nip and Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser Review

nip and fab kale fix moisturiser
 Hi Lovelies
As you all might already know I just love my all things makeup but not only makeup I really love skincare products too. Skincare products matter me so much now as I think its very important to take care of the skin and keeping it looking fresh and hydrated. I have combination skin so its important to keep my skin smooth otherwise it can get dry in parts while others are greasy such my nose and my forehead, so I like to use products that work well on both of these areas. I like using a moisturiser instead of a primer to keep my complexion as smooth as possible so its easier for me to apply makeup.

Nip and Fab is a brand I recently started to try near the end of 2015 and they have a a wide range of skincare products including serum, exfoliators and moisturisers and thats only naming a few of their products. Kale Fix is a relatively new collection to join the ever growing skincare products of nip
 and fab.

nip and fab kale fix moisturiser pump
nip and fab kale fix vegan
Cruelty Free
Vegan
Contains superfoods Kale, Watercress and Almond oil
Soothing Aloe Vera and Shea Butter

I just love the design of the packaging of this cream, it has a very sturdy bottle and the writing is very clear to read. The pump at first was very awkward at first to use and took me a few times to eventually to get it to work for me properly, but once it started working properly its been fine for since then.

It says on the website that its best used day and night and you need 1-2 pumps to cover the face. I usually only use this cream once a day and that is usually at night time and it takes about 3-pumps to cover my face and neck. The cream itself is a medium consistency and isn't too thick and blends into the skin quickly without a greasy feeling.  It smells like refreshing very similar to  cucumber smell and once it was on the skin its very soothing, especially during the hotter days as helps cool down my skin. I wouldn't say its made my skin any softer but it does keep my complexion even and keeps away my dry skin.

My Thoughts
I do love this cream because it smells very refreshing and once on the skin its so soothing and just melts into the skin, its just lovely. This cream has defiantly made me want to buy more products to try from the nip and fab brand, I really want to try the dragons blood collection ( I think I have been watching too much The Game of Thrones)

Rating
9/10 I think this product is lovely and works quite well too, its a little bit on the expensive side  but with that being said it has a decent amount of product in it. The pump on mine was broken so hopefully next time I get one it won't have a problem. The best part of the product was the smells and how soothing it felt on the skin.

Have you tried Nip + Fab products before?

Meet Bella the Kitten /// Lifestyle

Hi Lovelies
If you follow me on Instagram and Twitter you would of noticed that recently we got a new kitten! She is an adorable calico and she is 11 weeks old now and has settled in very well into the family home. Bella enjoys the company of my other two cats Kitty and Salem.

Kitty is my first cat ever and she is 7 and a tabby, she loves relaxing in the sunshine and lying on the rug watching tv in the evenings. Salem is a tom cat and he is 4, Salem is very different from kitty and likes going outside to explore, he is best friends with my husband and enjoys cuddles too. Bella thankfully likes them both and they all get along :)

She has been checked over by the vets and had a slight heart murmur but the vet said not to worry about it ( of course I am a little bit worried) and to take her back in a few weeks to see if its gone, fingers crossed it would of gone.

The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector Review

the body shop hemp hand protector review
Hi Lovelies
I just love skincare products especially hand care products, my usual go to hand cream is Soap and Glory hand food but since its now empty I needed a change. Seeing as it had  been far too long ago since I last went to the body shop I decided to try a hand cream  from them for a change.  I have never tried any hemp products before but I have heard positive things about hemp infused beauty products.

The Body Shop is a well know house hold name, my nana used to take when I was a child and she used to always get bits and bobs in there every time she went, the trend must of rubbed onto me because some of my favourite products come from there including skincare, haircare and some of the perfumes too.

£1.50 from every hand cream goes to the body shop foundation
relieves dry skin
restores moisture

About Hemp
Hemp is one of the worlds oldest crops which is originally from Europe and Asia and was used for food and medical purposes. Oil from hemp is very hydrating and comes from a variety called Finola.

First things first I love the design on this  cream, it simple easy to read, I really think the green and the silver compliment each other perfectly. The cream its self surprised me because its a lot thicker then the usual hand creams I have tried before, so with knowing that I only applied a pea sized amount on my hand and thankfully I did because that was enough to cover both of my hands.

The cream is non greasy and dries very quickly leaving hands feeling every soft and smelling very nice too, its a very unique smell which is the best way I could describe it being is herby with a hint of spice which is little bit like nutmeg.

My Thoughts
I am so happy that I bought this cream and I pretty sure I will be buying this again in the future because I just love the way it sinks into the skin and leaves them feeling very soft. Its very good size to carry in your handbag and also comes in a larger size of 100ml.

Rating
9/10 I love everything about the cream but I am not so keen on the way it squeeze out the tube as it can be awkward getting it all even but apart from that is perfect and have nothing bad to say about it.

Have you tried  skincare products from the body shop before? if so what are your favourites

Harry Potter and The Philosophers Stone Review

harry potter and the philosophers stone book review
I am sure most of us have heard of 'Harry Potter' the boy with the lightning shaped scar on his head and I am pretty sure most of us have probably watched and read the books too. Even though its been nearly 20 years since this book has been released, all things harry potter are still as popular as it was back then. I have always wanted to read these books (its took me so long I know) so I recently bought all seven books and have just finished reading this one.

About the Book
This book written by J.K Rowling and its about a young boy called Harry Potter who happens to be a wizard and he finds out he is a wizard in a very mysterious way. He eventually goes to Hogwarts which is a school for witches and wizards. While at school he makes some very good friends and also some enemies, while there he discovers what happened to his parents and who is behind it .. and it he that shall not be named 'VOLDERMORT'.
harry potter and the philosophers stone book review
My Thoughts
I have seen all the Harry Potter films so reading this was a breath of fresh air, if you have watched the film and liked it I am sure you would like this book because it has everything in the film and more. They is parts in the book thats not in the film and its written very well with chapters named accordingly like my favourites 'The Forbidden forest' with the unicorn and centaurs and 'Through The Trap Door' where harry and his friends go through stages to get to the philosophers stone.

Rating
10/10 I absolutely loved this book! it was interesting from the start and I didn't want to put it down once I started reading it. Its great for all ages and easy to read and to know who all the characters are. I can understand the hype about this book and with that being said I am now onto the second book. My 8 year old son has now started to read this book (he recently finished reading treasure island).

Love Aroma Riviera Escape Yankee Candles

Yankee Candle Riviera Escape Review
Yankee Candles Riviera Escape candles are a very new collection which came out in April 2016. I am always excited for new yankee candles because I always seem to be a sucker for a nicely scented candle as they can make my home smell heavenly. These candles remind  me a lot of the spring and summer months because of the names of the candles such as lavender and summer peach. All we need now is for the British weather to match the candles names.

This Riviera Escape home gift set includes 6 votive candles and the set includes the following fragrances - Riviera Escape, Summer Peach, Sicilian Lemon, Olive & Thyme, Sea Salt & Safe and Lavender. I also got two votive candle holders as I heard they help keep the candles lasting as long as possible with minimal mess.

The 6 Riviera Escape Fragrances
Riviera Escape - The scent of this candle matches it perfectly as it has a hint of floral in it and a fresh scent which is kinda like a marine breeze, the smell was very nice and refreshing. This one is perfect for anyone who likes fresh smelling candles.

Summer Peach - I don't tend to buy many peach products as I am not so keen on many peach smelling things on the market as they can smell quite fake but with this candle it smelt like a peach smoothie which I think is very summery. If you love sweet and fruity candles then this is a candle for you.

Sicilian Lemon - I never thought about getting a citrus smelling candle before but honestly I am so glad I got this candle because I think I have a new favourite because it smells exactly like sweet lemons and makes the whole room smell gorgeous. This candle is perfect for anyone who likes citrus or sweet smells.
Olive & Thyme - This candle is fragrant thyme with a hint of musk scent and it smells very earthy, I never thought I would of liked this candle but this proved me wrong yet again as the blend was perfect and the combination  of the olive and the thyme complimented each other. I would recommend this to someone who would like a change from their usual choice of candle because this one is just divine.

Sea Salt & Sage - Just have to start and say this candle was beautiful, it was one best smelling candles I have smelled in a while with its crisp notes of bergamot and sea salt, it reminded me of a costal holiday, this candle makes me want to go on holiday. If you love spicy and herby candles then this is the one for you.

Lavender - I must admit I am not the biggest fan in the world of Lavender, I can't get a long with it in any form so I asked my mum to review this one and this is what she said. 'This candle was very nice and floral and was like walking into my granddads garden in the hot summer'.

This collection was sent to me by Love Aroma which is a website which sells a lot of candles including Yankee candles. They were also kind enough to send me a 20% discount for my readers and the code is

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Amethyst Review

nyx liquid suede cream lipsticks review
nyx liquid suede cream lipsticks
Hi Lovelies
NYX is a brand I have always wanted to try but was never able to find a makeup counter for it! That all changed recently when Glasgow got its first NYX counter in Boots in town, I practically went the next day when I heard about them being there. While their I got myself a foundation a few lipsticks including this one which is called Liquid Suede.

This lipstick cost me £6.50 which is super affordable for a lipstick compared to a lot of brands out their offering the same type of matte lipstick. This lipstick comes in many shades but I only seen about 6 of them on the counter. This is a matte lipstick which is infused with avocado oil and Vitamin E. They are described as being velvetly soft yet having a matte finish.

Quick facts about Nyx Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks
  • 12 gorgeous shades to choose from
  • Waterproof
  • Cruelty Free
  • Affordable

 Application
I love the wand on this lipstick its very thick and has a shaped tip at the top so it can fill in the lips without making a mess, It holds a lot of the lipstick so you won't need to put it in again to apply more as once is enough. Whilst going on the lips its super creamy and after a few minutes it dries to a nice matte finish and thankfully the matte isn't drying.

Overall thoughts
Without doubt this lipstick is just as good as any premium matte lipsticks I have tried, I just love how bright and opaque these look and how long they last ( roughly 4 hours) The matte is very nice and didn't flake, all did was fade through time but reapplying was easy anyways. For the price its just the bees knees and I can't wait to add more of these gorgeous lipsticks to my collection.

My Collection
Amethyst - This lipstick is a very bright purple and is very eye catching! its not easy finding purple lipsticks but this one is very nice to wear.

Have you tried any of the NYX liquid Suede lipsticks?

Kiko Gossamer Emotion Creamy Lipsticks Review

Kiko Gossamer Emotion Creamy Lipsticks
Hi Lovelies
Ever since I got my first ever KIKO Haul a few months ago I've literally been addicted to the brand! Ever since the stores started popping up in Glasgow my wish list hasn't stopped growing because every time I go they is always something new that catches my eye. Today I am reviewing the Gossamer Emotions Lipstick and yes I do realise I only have one in my collection so far, they will be more in the near future and I will be adding them onto this post.

As for price it cost me an ok price of £10.90 which sounds very fair indeed to me as it has a gorgeous gold and granite case and a fair amount of lipstick in the tube (3.5g to be precise) They is a choice of 30 lipstick shades to choose from and are all made of a formula that contains orchid extracts and hyaluronic filling spheres. I also love the fat it has a button on top of the lipstick to open it which I think is quite cute and unique.

Quick facts about the Gossamer Emotion Lipsticks
  • They is 30 shades to choose from
  • The brand KIKO is cruelty free
  • Paraben Free
  • Non-Comedogenic
  • Dermatologically Tested
Kiko gossamer Emotion creamy lipsticks

Application
I love how this lipstick glides onto to the lips, it reminds me of a lip balm because its really simple to get a professional results with this lipstick. Once on my lips they looked super glossy for up to 5 hours with a hot drink and all day during Ramadan! It has a very pleasant smell and isn't over powering at all.

Overall Thoughts
I can honestly say I love this lipstick! especially at the moment because the glossy lipstick really matches the beautiful summer weather we are having at the moment. I am very happy how long the lipsticks last and haven't got a bad word against it really, I can't wait to add more of them to my collection. I would rate them higher then a lot of my premium lipstick which cost a lot more then this so I would say they are great value for money.

My Collection
Azalea (124) - I usually go for a bright red lipstick but decided against that and got myself the total opposite and got myself a bright pink and I am so glad I did! Azalea is a gorgeous hot pink and is super creamy. I have worn this so many times already that I have lost count, I have posted many pictures with this on, on my Instagram.

Primark Beauty Sponge Review

primark beauty sponge review
 Hi Lovelies
If you have me on instagram, you will notice that I shop a lot in Primark (mostly for pyjamas) and also lots and lots of beauty products. I know it sounds daft but I have never bought any beauty from Primark before even though I have been very tempted too. That all changed till recently till I wanted to give these beauty sponges a whirl to see if they worked as well as the 'beauty blender' and 'Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge'. I love those two brands but seeing as this is only £1.50 for two beauty sponges, I thought it was well worth giving them a go.

PS... 2 PK Blender Sponge | £1.50
primark beauty sponge review
Looks wise they both look very similar in design to the beauty blender so I jumped at the chance to try them, hoping they would be decent. I know the expectations are very high because these cost a fraction of the price and you also get two for that price.

When I opened the packet they did smell a bit horrible a smell I can't describe but it defiantly wasn't very pleasant. Applying foundation with these was awkward and did not work anywhere near as the beauty blender or the real techniques miracle sponge. It didn't apply foundation or concealer as easy as the other sponges as it was quite stiff and couldn't get to all the hard to reach places like near the nose, chin and eyes.

I personally won't be using this very often as I much prefer my foundation brush and my real techiques sponge. I might use this when I go on a holiday or something, so if I loose it, it wouldn't really matter that much. If your looking for a beauty sponge I would say the beauty blender is best and for a more affordable option I would go for the real techniques sponge.

Whats everyones favourite beauty sponge?
