When the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks first made their appearance on the high street I was instantly attracted to them as the retro design which kinda reminded me of an art deco design and not only that the shade selection is absolutley stunning with 8 gorgeous shades to choose from, I just had to try one and make my own verdict on this beauty. I personally choose Hot Pepper after a lot of deciding on which one to choose.
- 8 gorgeous shades to choose from ( I choose a classy red which is hot pepper)
- Applicator like a lip gloss for easy application.
- Matte finish for that a classic retro look
- Bold colour that stands out in a beautiful way of course.
- Lightweight so it feels like its not even their
- Lasts 24 hours ( not sure about this but it does last a long time)
- Affordable so much cheaper than other premium brands
Finish and Lasting power
My favorite thing about hot pepper is how classic it looks and reminds me of Marilyn Monroe signature lipstick which was stunning blue red shade. The formula itself reminds me MAC retro lipsticks which cost about £5 more then this so this is an affordable bargain. Applying this lipstick was a lot like applying a lip gloss as it was very velvety and dried almost instantly to a beautiful matte lip. My only advice with this lipstick is to apply a lip balm before applying this as it can be quite drying I personally use Pixi lip balm which works wonders for this and stops my lips feeling dried out. For me the claim that this lasts 24 hours is a bit over the top to be honest but I would say it lasts a respectable 8 hours but re application maybe needed sometimes even more so if you have a cup of tea or coffee which is very often for me so re application is needed for me.
Overall I am very happy with hot pepper, it looked how I wanted it to look and lasted long enough to say it was worth the 24 hour claim even though that is a bit over the top claim. I am happy enough with this lipstick I will getting the rest of the collection soon as I just love matte effect lipsticks and for the price of £8.99 they are so much more affordable then the premium brand and they work like one and that's the main selling point for me.
